Butterfly House by Lippman Associates

The Butterfly House by Lippman Associates is a house designed for a chinese property developer who insisted that the house have "no straight lines" to attract good "chi" (in Feng Shui).

The Lippmann website, effectively presents the Butterfly House via its simple but constructed layout. The choice of images also brings out the best of the house for example, a nice angle of the building itself presents not only the building but also the context - the city in the background.

They also used a simple black background with white plan outlines of the house which i myself believe to be very effective and makes the image standard out quite well.
Therefore, not only is the house itself inspiring - creating something out of the ordinary, but the website presentation has also given me many inspirations for my final poster.

Hydropolis, the world's first underwater hotel.

The Hydropolis Underwater Hotel and Resort is designed by Prof. Roland Dieterle and will be the world's first underwater luxury resort. The bubble-shapde dome ceilings enable guests to see marine creatures underwater.

The hotel is presented throughout different techniques using the colour "blue" as the main theme - which blends in with the theme of "water". The main design/image is presented as a large background image, while plans and elevations are included in as sub info boxes.


The use of white lines for the plans on top of dark backgrounds brings out the sections in a more vibrant and creative way. Plus the whole wash of blue throughout the posters creates a sense of flow within the poster itself - no conflicting elements. Which makes the poster easier to read.

Floronsor's Habitat Sketches & SketchUp Model

The above, is a sketch of Floronsor's dwelling from the outside and the surrounding environment.



This sketch shows the general idea and outline of Floronsor's dwelling - an underground dwelling, with the main light source coming from the "sun roof" at the top of the mound.

T-Lite's Habitat Sketches

Below are some rough initial sketches for T-Lites environments.

The above is a sketch of the initial idea of the building that T-Lite dwells in - a factory in a highly industrial area. The sketch encompasses my initial grid-like ideas for the building itself.

And this is a more detailed sketch of the smaller rectangular office rooms where T-Lite sleeps during the day on the office table.

Reason: Short for table light
Description:
T-Lite, short for table light, likes to dwell in study-room-like environments. Its back, not only acts as a light source but also resembles a larger, much scarier creature to scare away any predators attack from behind!

Spore Creature Creator - Dropulet

Name: Dropulet
Reason: A rain/water-droplet like creature
Description:
Dropulet is a water droplet-like creature that loves water environments. It's fins helps it to waddle through the water environments while its arms and legs helps it to navigate on land (when it rains).

Name: Pigimid
Reason: A timid pig-like creature
Description:
Pigimid is a timid pig-like creature that likes to dwell around swamp/mud like environments. Its low-structured body helps it get around fast and helps it to not draw attention from predators. Its antlers and wing-like leaves helps it camouflage in the wide, protecting it from harm.

Spore Creature Creator - Floronsor

Name: Floronsor

Reason: A Flora-type creature

Description:

Floronsor, a flower type creature that likes to hang out in the gardens amongst other flowers nearly 24hrs a day. It's main diet consists of insects especially bees and butterflies where it uses its petals to attract them towards it.
